About the Book:

The third edition of Television News is ideal for preparing future reporters, who are increasingly called on to do it all. This valuable book takes you from the basics of reporting to writing in broadcast and Web style, to shooting, editing and producing a broadcast. Knowing that truthful information presented ethically and accurately is a requirement of news reporting in our democratic society, the authors provide  foundation for skilled reporting that meets those objectives.

Television News takes readers beyond individual reporting to the daily realities of the broadcast business. A producing chapter introduces you to what it takes to keep a newsroom running successfully, and discussions reflect the changing world of broadcast news with topics such as convergence, social networking and how to shoot a standup when working alone. Chapters on legal considerations and broadcast careers round out this comprehensive guide to the industry. An accompanying Web site at http://TelevisionNews.hh-pub.com will help you learn and review with writing, shooting and editing activities, web links and an introductory video.

Whether you plan to work in a traditional newsroom role or operate as a video journalist, this book will prepare you for creating broadcast-ready news for television and for the internet.
